Year-round Eurostar service to south of France
Eurostar has launced a new year-round direct service between London and the south of France.
The first train left London St Pancras International on 1 May bound for Lyon, Avignon and Marseille, calling en route at Ashford.
The service will operate on Saturdays throughout the year, on Mondays and Fridays from May to October and additionally on Thursdays and Sundays during July and August.
The service leaves St Pancras at 07.19 (07.15 on Sundays and Bank Holidays), arriving at Lyon Part Dieu at 13.00 (local time), Avignon TGV at 14.08 and Marseille at 14.46. The return working departs Marseille at 15.22, calling at Avignon at 15.58 and Lyon at 17.25. It will include a 75-minute stop at Lille for immigration purposes, which Eurostars says means that passengers travelling to the UK can board their train without the need to arrive 30 minutes before departure. The train then proceeds through the Channel Tunnel to arrive in Ashford at 21.34 and St Pancras at 22.12.
