The Railway Study Association has announced that Karen Boswell will be its President for 2015/16.
Ms Boswell is currently Managing Director of Hitachi Rail Europe, where her role is to drive the firm’s rapid expansion, including its new £82 million train manufacturing facility in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. Prior to this she was Managing Director of East Coast, which ran passenger services on the East Coast main line under the ownership of Department for Transport operator of last resort Directly Operated Railways. Ms Boswell has also held the role of Customer Services Director at First Capital Connect.
Commenting on the appointment, Jonathan Pugh, Chairman of the RSA Council, said: ‘It is fabulous that Karen is joining us as President. With her passion for driving customer satisfaction and her track record of success in this area, she will play a lead role in the theme of our ground-breaking, sessional programme “customer service and innovation”, which will soon be announced. Karen will help us in our ongoing transformation programme across the RSA as we continue to provide high quality learning and networking experiences, as well as active support and expertise for the rail industry throughout the coming year and beyond.’
