Golden Spanners this Friday

Annual awards for train reliability

On Friday the Modern Railways Fourth Friday Club meeting will include the annual Golden Spanners awards, where we discover which are the UK’s most reliable trains. Last year the South West Trains Class 458/0 was the top performer – who will win this year?

The after-lunch speaker will be HS2 Technical Director Andrew McNaughton, with the awards following at 15.00. There will also be a morning conference on rolling stock issues from 09.30, including papers from Houghton International, Perpetuum, Lucchini Unipart Rail, Rowe Hankins and Vivarail.

You can follow the day’s events live on our Twitter feed at @modern_railways, including details of who has won the awards. A list of the winners will appear here and on our website next week, with a full analysis in the January issue of the magazine.
