Eurostar launches e320 to Brussels

Photo: Welcome to Brussels: Eurostar chief executive Nicolas Petrovic (centre) and colleagues greet the first passenger-carrying e320 to reach the Belgian capital.

Eurostar has operated its first Siemens Velaro Class 374 e320 train in passenger service on its London to Brussels route, in advance of full introduction to service from Sunday 28 May.
The operator has ordered 17×16-car trains from Siemens, which are currently being delivered. The first e320 was introduced on the London to Paris route in November 2015, with the new trains providing 20% more capacity than the original Class 373s. The new fleet also offers free Wi-Fi and on-board entertainment.
As well as increasing capacity on existing routes, Eurostar has procured the new trains to operate to new destinations, as they are interoperable with a range of signalling systems. The first is Amsterdam, and Eurostar is planning an inaugural run to the Dutch capital in December.
