National Express Group PLC announced on 5 May that Ray O’Toole, Chief Operating Officer, had retired as a director. He will be assisting Dean Finch, Group Chief Executive, on a number of projects over the next 12 months.

John Devaney, Chairman of the Company, said, ‘Ray has been a member of our Board since joining the Group in 1999 as Chief Operating Officer. He became Chief Executive, UK Division in 2008 and, following the resignation of Richard Bowker last year, he supported the Board until Dean’s arrival. He has made a tremendous contribution to the Group and, on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank him for all his efforts and wish him well for the future.’

David Franks, who was acting Chief Executive Officer for the UK business, has also left the company. A company spokesman said: ‘Dean Finch looked at the numbers of layers of UK management and decided to take control of the UK business himself.’
