First ‘777’ arrives in UK

The first of 52 new trains built by Stadler for the Merseyrail network reached the UK on 9 January.

The maiden Class 777 was delivered by rail to Dollands Moor in Kent, before moving to Crewe on 15 January and arriving at Kirkdale depot on Merseyside the following night. On-network testing and driver training will take place ahead of the new trains entering service later this year. The fleet has been ordered and will be owned by Merseytravel.
